GeoMate at IAA Mobility 2025: Key Insights and Takeaways from Munich

IAA Mobility 2025 took place in Munich, where our CEO @ Amin Gharebaghi represented GeoMate!

So, we asked him to describe his experience. His initial thoughts?
“9.5/10” (Apparently, he thought we were asking about the schnitzel)

Regardless, don’t let this number confuse you; with countless unveilings and innovative research questions, the IAA Summit was nothing short of a 10.

Amin attended multiple sessions, connected with colleagues and attempted to absorb a barrage of information that only his PhD studies could rival.

That said, here are some of his (and GeoMate’s) highlights from the conference!

1.Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs) - Accenture Study

One Accenture study explored how software-defined vehicles (SDVs) are inspiring new business models. The vehicles’ parameters and functions can be controlled through software; thus, people are starting to believe that success is no longer about who sells the “best car” in terms of performance and hardware, but rather about the experience within it.

Of course, all AVs must be SDVs to function; thus, when we asked Amin what this could mean for GeoMate, he said it spoke to how far AVs and advanced driver-assistance systems have come, and how far they can continue to go.

In his view, “mobility solutions will pave the way for the future of the automotive industry, and the companies quickest to react will be the quickest to relish the benefits.”

2.SDV Accelerator - HERE & AWS Collaboration

Some other noteworthy news on the floor came from the mapping industry, as HERE and AWS announced the introduction of the SDV Accelerator, an advanced technology designed to help automakers speed up the development process for SDVs.

The project has a clear basis: 1) a focus on innovative freedom for years to come, and 2) an optimism for increased operational efficiency.

But what might have been more telling was the companies’ confidence in eventual demand.

In other words, HERE and AWS should have their fingerprints on the SDV sector’s future, which, as current trends suggest, may eventually account for the industry on the whole.

3.TomTom’s New In-Vehicle Navigation Application

TomTom, another large player in the mapping industry, announced their brand new Automotive Navigation Application, which will blend right in with the company’s current technology.

Already, the application is usable and fully tested, and given the apparent stronghold SDVs have on our automotive future, TomTom’s new app will embody what they call “rapid integration,” which is essentially moving with the age as opposed to learning from it.

Upon hearing the news, our beliefs were only reinforced; TomTom was proving that the quickest to react would be the quickest to succeed. As for GeoMate, it was inspiring as we proactively look toward the quickly approaching launch of RealSimE and beyond.

Final Thoughts

Amin loved being back in Munich last week, and contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t just the schnitzel.

As always, GeoMate appreciated the opportunity to converse with potential partners, discuss our goals, and assess the ecosystem of our ever-evolving industry.

If you want to follow us on our future travels, there will be plenty more of these to come!

See you soon :) 👋
